30 Minute Cleaning Challenge

Y’all. I am having a hard day. A friend of mine passed yesterday and today all I want to do is lay in bed and cry. But, I can’t. I have kids, I have a craft show Saturday, I have a household. I have lots of big lofty goals and honestly I’m sick of putting them off until tomorrow. So while I don’t wanna, I’m gonna.

The first thing I did today after taking the little one to school was take a look at my house. It was a freaking disaster. I didn’t have any motivation but it needed to be dealt with, so I did a 30 minute cleaning challenge.

I first heard about this probably 10 years ago, and I do them often. You set a timer for 30 minutes and you just do everything you can for 30 minutes straight, as quickly as possible.

In my 30 minutes today, I got a lot done:

  • Emptied and loaded the dishwasher
  • Swept every room in the house
  • Cleaned the bathroom
  • Cleaned the stove
  • started laundry
  • picked up toys
  • wiped off counters
  • made my bed

And now it’s all done and I have a lot of day left for what I need to do! So, next time you are struggling with an overwhelming amount of crap to get done try this out! Maybe it’ll become a new thing for you as well, and we could all use some help at making life a little bit easier.
